Napa Valley With a Dog

Twenty-seven of the 61 properties in our selection allow pets according to the current property data. That is a large share, and it makes Napa Valley an easier destination to bring a dog to than most wine regions.

One limit shapes this entire page. Our source records whether pets are allowed and nothing else. It does not record fees, weight limits, how many animals are permitted, which room types are eligible or whether advance notice is required. Those rules change often and vary widely, so we do not publish them, and any site that does without citing the property is guessing.

Pet-friendly counts by town: Napa 17 of 32, Yountville 6 of 8, Calistoga 3 of 12 and St. Helena 1 of 8.

Where the pet-friendly properties are

Napa holds 17 of the 27, Yountville 6, Calistoga 3 and St. Helena 1. Rutherford has none.

St. Helena is the real gap. Harvest Inn is the only property in the town in our selection that allows pets, which matters because St. Helena is otherwise the strongest base for winery access.

You are not limited to mid-market hotels

Travelling with a dog does not push you down the price bands here. Bardessono, North Block Hotel, The Estate Yountville, Hotel Yountville, Carneros Resort and Spa and Four Seasons Resort Napa Valley all allow pets according to the current property data.

In the walkable downtown Napa cluster the choice is also good, including Archer Hotel Napa, Napa River Inn, Andaz Napa, The Westin Verasa Napa and River Terrace Inn.

What to confirm before you book

The fee and whether it is per night or per stay. Any weight or breed limit. How many animals are allowed. Whether pets can be left unattended in the room, which is often where policies differ most. Whether a specific room type is required.

Ask the property directly. Booking platforms frequently show a simple yes without the conditions attached to it.
