A property reaches this page on a combination of signals: star classification, price band from our stored snapshot, confirmed facilities such as spa and pool, property format and market positioning. No property is called luxury here purely because it is expensive or because its own website uses the word.

This is the most useful thing to notice on this page. Hotel Yountville sits in our highest price band with an 8.0 guest score. Bardessono sits in the same band with a 9.6. Both are five-star properties in the same village.

At the other end, Hilton Garden Inn Napa scores 9.1 with both a pool and a spa in our lowest price band, and does not appear on this page at all because its star classification and positioning place it elsewhere. Luxury pricing and guest satisfaction are separate signals and we publish both.

Review confidence at the top end

Several luxury properties in the valley carry thin review bases. Carneros Resort and Spa scores 9.5 on 22 reviews, Four Seasons Resort Napa Valley 9.6 on 31, and Alila Napa Valley 8.5 on 15. Bardessono and Hotel Yountville each rest on 55.

The Estate Yountville at 281 reviews and Napa Valley Lodge at 369 are the exceptions, and that makes their ratings the most dependable in this group even though neither holds the highest number.
